Shaun Uyeda Captain & Owner of Pelican Sportfishing
Shaun Uyeda was born and raised in San Diego, CA. His love for fishing began at the age of 5 when his dad would take him to Chollas Lake and Lake Jennings almost every weekend. When he was about 10 years old, his uncle bought a boat and once they started saltwater fishing, Shaun never looked back.
After witnessing his father fight brain cancer for 17 months before ultimately passing, he was reminded that life is short and should be spent doing what you love and are passionate about. He decided to finally take the leap he had been wanting to for so long, took the test in September 2018 and obtained his 6 Pack Fishing Charter License in February 2019.
As a Captain, Shaun is extremely outgoing, knowledgeable and hospitable. He assists his guests throughout the trip, ensuring a great time is had by all. He welcomes beginners and seasoned anglers, and allows guests to experience fishing from beginning to end. You don't have to worry about standing around watching the crew fish, this trip is for YOU and your family/friends to experience fishing. Shaun takes great pride in his business and puts 100% into every fishing trip.
Shaun previously owned and operated Advanced Wiring Services and has over 15 years marine and auto electrical experience, making him extremely boat savvy.
Shaun got married in 2014 to Heather, whom he was best friends with as a kid (and they share the same birthday!). Shaun and Heather have one son. They look forward to teaching him how to fish and enjoying quality time on the water together.
A funny story about Shaun (and we absolutely do NOT recommended you repeat it)...when he was about 13 and on a fishing charter, he accidentally dropped his rod in the ocean. Without hesitation, he jumped in after it and saved it from sinking. He sure did piss off the captain and understandably so, but Shaun was just happy to save his setup. Determined? I'd say so.

Bobby has been running trips for Pelican Sportfishing since April 2021. He is family and is an all around amazing guy. Just looking through our Google reviews you will see his name mentioned in most reviews. Bobby's passion for fishing comes from Big Game like Bluefin tuna.
