July 23rd - 3/4 Day at the Islands
Bob had originally booked a 3/4 Day Offshore Trip, however, since the tuna weren't in range we game planned ahead of time and turned the trip into a 3/4 Day at Coronado Islands. I'd say they made the right decision. Camden felt a little heartbreak after losing his first yellowtail ever to a sea lion but he made up for it, ripping 7 yellows past them throughout the day. It had been 20 years since Bob caught a yellowtail. As always, a super enjoyable day watching a father and son slay fish and make memories! Thanks Bob for choosing Pelican Sportfishing. See you guys next year!
5 Star Review, Google
I spoke with Captain Shaun prior to our booking, explained past trips and fish we wanted to catch on this one. The Captain suggested a 3/4 day trip heading south of the border to the Coronado's Islands. Caden, my son, is quite the fisherman catching 8 yellowtail on this trip while I reeled in 2 others. The boat was super clean and our bounty stayed on ice until we were close to being back at dock. The Captain filleted our fish and bagged them in ziploc bags for us. This trip is truly memorial for the two of us. Thanks Captain Shaun! ~ Bob from Phoenix
July 19th - Full Day @ the Islands
2nd Round at the Coronado Islands produced another solid mix of yellowtail, rockfish, a sheephead and a barracuda. The day started out cooler and windy but got nice as the day went on. The boat traffic was super heavy but we managed to keep our distance. These guys managed a good haul and had an amazing fishing trip. Thank you Chris for putting together a fun fishing trip with your fam! Looking forward to next time.
Valid Passports and Mexican Fishing Permits ($20, available at Landing) required for each angler. Contact us ASAP to get in on the bite at the Coronado Islands! 3/4 and Full Day Trips available.
July 18th - Full Day @ the Islands
Coronado Islands for a Full Day with an awesome group from Iowa. They caught a nice variety including yellowtail, barracuda, bonito and rockfish! The water was a little rough away from the Islands and the guys preferred the calmer side of the Islands so we spent a majority of our day there. Great group, some had lots of experience, others had little experience but they all caught a variety of fish and had a fun time. Thank you David for choosing Pelican! Hope to see you guys again soon.
Mark and Anthony, a local father and son, hopped aboard for a AM Half Day trip. They caught limits of reds and had a fun day, in their words, catching more fish in one trip than they had caught all together in past fishing trips! Gloomy morning but a great day on the water. Thank you Mark for choosing Pelican Sportfishing! I look forward to having you guys aboard again!
July has been full of father & son trips! Jason and his son caught a nice mixed bag including a big lingcod. Thank you two for choosing Pelican Sportfishing!
Fishing has been nice and steady inshore, however, I am looking forward to some Coronado Islands trips later in the month since the yellowtail bite has been hot!! Keep checking back for updates or book your trip and get in on the action!
Another father and son trip was a success! They were hoping to catch a shark and they did! Also caught were a nice 31" Lingcod, a 23" Lingcod, a mix of rock fish and one that's new to me, a Rubberlip Seaperch. Fun day on the water! Thank you Damien and Declan for choosing Pelican Sportfishing!
Nothing better than teaching and fishing with young kids that show excitement and interest in the sport! Ryan and his kids were visiting from New Mexico. These kids had so much fun fishing and their dad possibly had an even better time watching them have fun and taking in the memories. It was constant action the entire trip. By mid trip these kids were baiting and catching all on their own. Such a fun experience seeing these kids get stoked on fishing! Great job to all of you!
July 8th - Half Day Trip x 2
The AM Half Day trip was with Trey Wingenter, pitcher for the San Diego Padres, and his cousin Curtis. They had fun bottom fishing inshore and caught a nice mix of rockfish, a Sheephead and a nice caught-and-released Sand Bass. Glad you can cross fishing off your San Diego list of things to try! Thanks Trey for choosing Pelican Sportfishing!
The PM Half Day Inshore Trip was a grandfather and granddaughter visiting from out of town. The bite picked up from the morning and they caught 2 legal lingcods. Thank you Butch for choosing Pelican Sportfishing!
July 5th - Half Day Inshore Trip
This family from Arizona had a fun time catching a variety of fish, and caught a nice halibut, which was what they were hoping for all along. Seeing kids get excited about fishing and families spend quality time together on the water together is what it's all about. Fishing is much more than a sport, it's an opportunity to step away from all the noise, technology and demands of life. It's an opportunity to unwind, relax the mind and create memories. I love that I get to help create these experiences for others. Thank you Charlie for choosing Pelican Sportfishing. I'm looking forward to going offshore for tuna next time!
Before heading out with this group of guys from out of town, we decided that we would head offshore to see what we could find but would also spend the later half of the day bottom fishing along the coastline so they could get the full experience. After trolling offshore for a bit but not seeing much action, we headed inshore to finish off the day. While out there, we had a small whale circle the boat a few times to check us out, which surprised the group. They were excited to get pictures and videos. While inshore, the bite was steady and they caught a mix bag with the highlight being a 24" halibut. Thank you Shelby for choosing Pelican Sportfishing - great having you all aboard! See you next time!
