Another father and son trip was a success! They were hoping to catch a shark and they did! Also caught were a nice 31" Lingcod, a 23" Lingcod, a mix of rock fish and one that's new to me, a Rubberlip Seaperch. Fun day on the water! Thank you Damien and Declan for choosing Pelican Sportfishing! 

Nothing better than teaching and fishing with young kids that show excitement and interest in the sport! Ryan and his kids were visiting from New Mexico. These kids had so much fun fishing and their dad possibly had an even better time watching them have fun and taking in the memories. It was constant action the entire trip. By mid trip these kids were baiting and catching all on their own. Such a fun experience seeing these kids get stoked on fishing! Great job to all of you!

The AM Half Day trip was with Trey Wingenter, pitcher for the San Diego Padres, and his cousin Curtis. They had fun bottom fishing inshore and caught a nice mix of rockfish, a Sheephead and a nice caught-and-released Sand Bass. Glad you can cross fishing off your San Diego list of things to try! The PM Half Day Inshore Trip was a grandfather and granddaughter visiting from out of town. The bite picked up from the morning and they caught 2 legal lingcods. Thank you Butch for choosing Pelican Sportfishing! 

This family from Arizona had a fun time catching a variety of fish, and caught a nice halibut, which was what they were hoping for all along. Seeing kids get excited about fishing and families spend quality time together on the water together is what it's all about. Fishing is much more than a sport, it's an opportunity to step away from all the noise, technology and demands of life. It's an opportunity to unwind, relax the mind and create memories. I love that I get to help create these experiences for others. Thank you Charlie for choosing Pelican Sportfishing. I'm looking forward to going offshore for tuna next time! 

Before heading out with this group of guys from out of town, we decided that we would head offshore to see what we could find but would also spend the later half of the day bottom fishing along the coastline so they could get the full experience. After trolling offshore for a bit but not seeing much action, we headed inshore to finish off the day. While out there, we had a small whale circle the boat a few times to check us out, which surprised the group. They were excited to get pictures and videos. While inshore, the bite was steady and they caught a mix bag with the highlight being a 24" halibut. Thank you Shelby for choosing Pelican Sportfishing - great having you all aboard! Great times on the water with a rad couple visiting San Diego! Bottom fishing in La Jolla. Hoped to see some dolphins but surprisingly did not see any. A little sea sickness cut the trip a tad bit short but these ladies had fun and got to experience  San Diego fishing. Thank you Cassidi and Lauren and Congratulations! 

AM Half Day Trip was a father and sons fishing trip with a fun group. Decent bottom fishing and a ton of laughs throughout the day. Thank you Steve, looking forward to next time! 

Round 2 of fishing for a PM Trip was with a group of friends celebrating one of the guys' acceptance into the Naval Academy. The bite definitely picked up in the afternoon and they had non stop action. It was a fun time, looking forward to another trip soon! Congratulations Jared! 

Half day inshore trip with a dad, son and nephew produced a nice variety of rockfish and lingcod. It was a catch and release day per customer's request. These guys had a great time fishing! 

It was so nice to get back out on the water with customers! Three guys from up north booked a full day at the Coronado Islands. We had a productive day of bottom fishing and the guys were stoked to stock up their freezers! Definitely experienced June gloom but the water was decent and the Islands are always fun with a nice view! 

On Wednesday, the 19th, I had to unfortunately return my passengers to the dock, due to boat issues...every captain's nightmare! I was so bummed but thankful for customers who were extremely understanding. We were able to get them out a couple days later thanks to a partner that helped out. Got to work right away and determined it was a bad valve on the intake side. It was good to find the problem but I was so bummed knowing that I had 4 charters coming up in the next 5 days and parts and repairs would take time. Thankful for partners who stepped up and helped get customers out on the water when the boat was down! After a full cleaning and lapping in the new valve, the engine was ready to be put back together for a water test. Test went great and boat ran smoother than it ever has. Feeling very grateful for everything my dad taught me about working on my own cars and boats. Thanks Dad!
